At S.T.E.V.E.S, we are dedicated to keeping pets with their owners during emergencies. Our mission is to assist unhoused individuals when they face crises such as arrest S.T.E.V.E.S. will pay the fees to get the beloved pet out of animal control. In the event of a death of the pet owner, we make sure the beloved pet can arrive safely to the next of kin willing to give the pet a loving home. We do not rehome, nor do we have pets available for adoption. We do not have a facility for the public to visit.  Our sole focus is to help pets stay with their families, through over night fostering, rabies vaccinations, food ,county licensing, paying fees for impound or  just transporting  them to a family member willing to provide care. 

We are proud to be the only service of its kind in the U.S. The concept was born from a personal experience when my daughter lost her life, leaving her beloved Chihuahua stranded in Alaska. With no connections in the area and no means to bring her little dog Kelsey back to Florida, the family faced a daunting challenge. We aim to prevent others from enduring such a painful situation, especially while trying to reunite with their loved ones.

Often, when an unhoused person is arrested, their dog may be placed in a shelter. Upon their release, the fees to reclaim their pet can be astronomical, often ranging from fifty to five hundred dollars—an impossible sum for someone in financial distress. For many, this cost can mean the difference between life and death for their beloved companion. That’s where S.T.E.V.E.S steps in, covering the fees so that pets can be reunited with their owners.
